About This Spot

Stepping into Hungry Bear Pub feels like settling into a well-worn neighborhood gathering spot where familiar faces and easy smiles set the tone. Tucked along PA-36 in Pleasantville, this bar and grill carries the gentle hum of a place where time slows just enough for a good meal and genuine conversation to take center stage. Whether it’s a lively evening or a quiet midweek lunch, the atmosphere strikes a balance between welcoming comfort and casual energy.

The space invites you to relax with a cold drink in hand, perhaps a locally favored Straub's beer, while the buzz of friendly chatter and clinking glasses flows around you. It’s the kind of spot where a group can effortlessly share stories over crispy chicken wings or savor the inviting warmth of a hot roast beef sandwich, each plate crafted with an honest, homey touch. There’s an ease here that encourages lingering—on the rich, homemade pizzas or the savory heartiness of a Delmonico steak—without ever feeling rushed.

Hungry Bear is as much about the people as the food. The rhythm of the place pulses with attentive service amid the steady flow of familiar faces returning season after season, drawn by both flavors and warmth. In moments when the pub fills, the staff’s good-natured hustle keeps things moving while preserving a sense of connection, echoing the relaxed but lively spirit that defines the experience.

Whether you find yourself here seeking comfort, a shared meal with friends, or simply a place to pause, Hungry Bear Pub unfolds as a quietly spirited local gem—a place where the love for good, straightforward food meets the joyful ease of community.

Been years that I have had one favorite burger and it wasn't here . Well now I dont have to drive to that burger anymore. Best burger in North west Pa folks. Hill's Burger . If Burger's are something you like Hill's in the Forest is the place to go!! Highly recommend!! 5 stars service and food

So there's this place (in the woods) called The Hills, if your ever in Tionesta, PA it just might be worth the stop. It started off kinda hilly but leveled out after awhile. This place when open is always filled with vehicles. So getting seated there might be a wait. Getting your food might also be a wait but the value and taste will out weigh that in the end. The menu is not big but it has something you'll enjoy. From steak, salad and nice size fish and this crazy $18 burger..... 1/2 pounder covered in cheese with 1/2 pound of pulled pork covered with onion pedals then topped with a heaping scoop of Mac n Cheese and served with a load fresh cut fries.... 12 golden brown crispy skin wings and a boat of fresh cut fries $14 What about a bacon / ranch pizza with fresh mozzarella that you'll need to have scissors to cut away all the strings. So if your in The Hills you be treated to a friendly staff but when its busy just give them a chance. Some may not be as patient and leave but stay the course you'll be happy. They aren't open m-w but will open at 1 or 12 T-S

6 of us were searching for somewhere open and we came across this restaurant. We had wings, burgers, pizza logs, mozzarella sticks and everything was awesome. The ranch was delicious. Service was great! The cheesecake was just ok, would not recommend. Restrooms need tended to. Would go back for burgers or wings any day!

The place could use a face lift or at least new tables but the food was very delicious which is why I went to get good food. Service was pretty good. A good place to grab a bite to eat or a drink. The patio looks like it'd be nice in the summer.
